Why Buy Recycled?

There are SO many reasons to recycle SO many things!  Buying products made from recycled materials "Closes the Loop" on recycling.  This is what the famous recycling triangle means!

 In other words, recycling takes stuff out of the waste stream, keeps landfills from overflowing and makes the demand for virgin products (such as wood pulp for paper or petroleum for plastics) less.  Those are all GREAT things! 

Recycling itself generates revenue for the entities that do it.  Cities and towns all over America SELL their recycled paper, glass and plastic creating a positive cash flow for them in these dire economic times.  This is also terrific for everyone!

The critical part is the last part...Closing the Loop.  There has to be a demand for products made from those recycled materials.  Those recycled products NEED to be bought in order for people to continue to see value in recycling! 

In our "Free-Market economy" almost no one does something for nothing.  If we don't make the effort to Close the Loop by buying recycled products, no one will make them anymore, so they'll stop buying all the raw/recycled materials, the towns and cities will lose their revenue and so will no longer be able to afford to have recycling programs and we will once again be awash in our garbage.

Close the loop...BUY RECYCLED!
